FAQs

  • How long will it take to drill a well?

Normally we can drill your well in one day. After that, we will have our pump crew come in to install your pump system, which will also normally take one day.

  • How deep do you have to drill my well to get water?

Every area is different. Depths can range from 150’ to 700’. Call for a free estimate.

  • How much will this cost?

Most wells are priced by the depth and size of the well. After the initial contact, we can meet you at your property to discuss location options.

  • Do I need a permit?

No. After your well is drilled, we will submit a well registration report to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

  • Do I have to use steel or PVC casing?

In most cases, PVC casing is widely used because of the low-cost, but PVC is not as strong as steel. Depending on the formation that is being drilled, we will determine which is best for you.

  • How much water do I need my well to produce?

You can calculate the amount by the number of people in your household. Each person in your household will use an average of 65-95 gallons per day.

5 Step Drilling Process

  • Site Assessment and Preparation

B&H Well Drilling begins by assessing the site to determine the best location for the well. This includes studying the geological conditions and obtaining necessary permits. The site is then cleared and prepared for the drilling equipment.

  • Drilling the Well

Using rotary drilling, a drill bit made of durable materials like tungsten is attached to a connected length of drill pipe. The drill is rotated to grind the rock, and a drilling fluid is circulated to flush the cuttings out of the hole, cool and lubricate the drill bit, and stabilize the hole's walls.

  • Handling Rock Layers and Water Strikes

As the drilling progresses, the drillers at B&H carefully monitor the depth of water strikes and the type of rock formations encountered. This ensures precise drilling pressures are applied to penetrate various layers of sand, gravel, clay, and rock effectively.

  • Installing the Well Casing

Once the desired depth is reached and water-bearing formations are encountered, a steel or plastic well casing is installed. This casing prevents the hole from collapsing and protects the water source from contamination. The space between the drilled hole and the casing, called the annulus, is filled with grout to seal it properly.

  • Finalizing the Well

After the casing is installed and secured, the well is developed and tested to ensure it meets the required standards for water flow and quality. B&H Well Drilling ensures that the well is properly capped and secured, ready to provide a reliable water source for the property.

“This Co. is absolutely the best, hands down. I had a 'frost free' hydrant leaking and it was in landscaping at our house. They not only repaired it fast, but the landscaping looks better than when they started."
